Managing Profile Details: Updating Name, Email, and Phone Number

Maintaining accurate profile information is essential for account security, billing verification, and legal ownership of your hosting services. This data is used for SSL certificate validation, domain WHOIS records, and as the primary recovery channel if you lose access to your account. This guide covers how to modify these attributes through the account management sidebar.

1. Accessing Account Details

All administrative changes to your profile are handled within the secure client area. These changes synchronize with our billing system but do not automatically change the contact details inside your individual cPanel or VPS control panels.

Steps to Edit Information:

  1. Log in to the Hovixa Client Portal.
  2. On the left-hand navigation sidebar, locate the Account or User Profile section.
  3. Click on Edit Account Details.

2. Modifying Contact Information

The profile page is divided into specific fields. Ensure that all data entered matches your government-issued ID or official business registration to avoid flags during automated fraud checks.

  • First & Last Name: Used for invoice generation and account ownership verification.
  • Email Address: This is your primary login identity. Changing this will change where you receive invoices, password reset links, and service notifications.
  • Phone Number: Required for Two-Factor Authentication (SMS) recovery and critical security alerts. Use the international format (e.g., +1.1234567890).

3. Security Protocols for Email Changes

Because the email address is a primary security identifier, Hovixa implements strict protocols when it is modified:

  • Verification: Upon changing your email, the system may send a confirmation link to the new address. The change will not finalize until you click this link.
  • Notification: A security alert is sent to the old email address notifying you of the change. If you did not authorize this, contact Hovixa Support immediately.
  • Login Credentials: Once the email is updated, your password remains the same, but you must use the new email address to log in to the portal.

4. Technical Implementation Details

  • Domain WHOIS: Updating your profile here does not automatically update the WHOIS contact information for your registered domains. To update domain ownership, you must navigate to Domains > My Domains > Manage > Contact Information separately.
  • Billing Address: If you are a business user, ensure the Company Name and Tax ID fields are updated to ensure your invoices are legally compliant for your local jurisdiction.
  • Sub-Accounts: If you wish to grant access to a developer without changing your primary profile, use the User Management feature to invite them as a sub-account instead of sharing your primary credentials.

Account Hardening: After updating your phone number, we recommend visiting the Security Settings page to verify that your Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) is still correctly mapped to your current device.
