Viewing Service Credentials: Finding Login Details and IP Addresses

Once your service is provisioned, you can retrieve all necessary connection strings, credentials, and network identifiers directly from the client portal. This information is required for configuring local development environments, mapping DNS via external providers (like Cloudflare), or establishing manual SSH/FTP connections.

1. Accessing the Service Management Page

All credentials are organized under the specific product to which they belong. To view them:

  1. Log in to the Hovixa Client Portal.
  2. Navigate to Services > My Services.
  3. Click the Manage button next to the active hosting or VPS plan.

2. Retrieving Shared Hosting & cPanel Details

For Shared and Semi-Dedicated plans, the dashboard provides a summary of your hosting environment:

  • Primary IP: The dedicated or shared IP address assigned to your web service. Use this for A-record mapping.
  • Server Name: The hostname of the machine hosting your account (e.g., node1.hovixa.com).
  • Nameservers: The redundant DNS addresses (e.g., ns1.hovixa.com and ns2.hovixa.com) you must set at your domain registrar.
  • Login Credentials: Under the Login Details tab, you can view your system-generated username and initial password.

3. Retrieving VPS (Virtual Private Server) Details

VPS management involves more granular network data found on the service details page at vm.hovixa.com (accessible via SSO):

  • Main IP Address: The public IPv4 address for your instance.
  • IPv6 Subnet: If enabled, your assigned /64 or /128 IPv6 range.
  • Root Credentials: The initial root password generated during deployment. Note: If you have changed your password via SSH, the portal will not reflect the new password for security reasons.

4. Single Sign-On (SSO) Quick Access

If you need to access your control panel without manually typing credentials, use the built-in SSO shortcuts found in the sidebar or the main service view:

  • Login to cPanel: Automatically authenticates you into cpanel.hovixa.com.
  • Login to Webmail: Direct access to your primary email account's inbox.
  • Login to SolusVM: For VPS users, this bridges you into the vm.hovixa.com management interface.

5. Technical Implementation Details

  • Password Sync: When you change your password through the "Change Password" tab in the client portal, it updates the service in real-time. However, changing the password *inside* cPanel or via the Linux CLI will break this synchronization.
  • IP Changes: IP addresses are static. They will not change unless you request a migration or an upgrade that requires a different node.
  • Sensitive Data: Credentials remain masked by default. You must click the Eye Icon or Show Password to reveal the plaintext string.

Security Best Practice: Once you have successfully logged in for the first time, we recommend updating your passwords to a custom string and storing them in a dedicated password manager. Avoid leaving the default system-generated passwords active for long-term use.
